From our beginning in 1921 with St. Pius V Catholic School, through the 1950s with the birth of Holy Rosary Catholic School, to right now in the 21st Century, Guardian Catholic Schools have worked to make a difference in the lives of many children and families on Jacksonville’s Northside.
Thanks to generous contributions and grants from our faithful donors, The Guardian Catholic Schools are able to expand and grow along with the needs of our community.
In April 2007, we added a new six-classroom facility expansion at Holy Rosary Catholic School. This space accommodates our youngest stewards in the Pre-K early learning program and houses an expanded library and a new computer lab. The total project cost was $1 million.
Currently a $925,000 expansion is underway at the St. Pius V campus. Due to be completed by 2008-2009 school year, this project adds four classrooms that will allow us to offer a new Pre-K3 class, plus a computer lab and space for after school programs. The library will also be remodeled and moved to a larger space.
As for the future, Guardian Catholic Schools are dreaming big – hoping to reach even more of Jacksonville’s children. Now that St. Pius V and Holy Rosary Catholic schools are nearing capacity, it’s our long-term goal to possibly add another school, as we continue to carry out our mission of affording every child the opportunity to receive a quality Catholic education.
